Where to start:

The best way to learn how the site works is to create a free account. Your own personal library will be created and two poses will be added for you to download. Once you see how easy it is to download and view poses, you can explore the Pose Tool for additional models and poses (note, Pose Credits cost less and are easier than buying each pose individually). Collections of poses, at a substantial discount, can be found on the Ebook Downloads, Sessions, and Companion Disks pages.

Policy for Use of the Photos.

The photos may be used as a reference for creating traditional art which may then be sold. For example, a drawing, painting, or sculpture is permissible under these guidelines, whereas a work which uses the actual photos—such as a collage—would be prohibited. The photos may be used for games, videos, and digital art if first manipulated in a substantive way, for example, as the basis for a wireframe mesh, skin, or texture. However, they may not, in whole or in part, be resold, repackaged and sold, nor given away.

A diversity of models pose for the Art Models project

Jenni posing with Art Models 2 and 4 Jenni is a model from the Czech Republic. When she was in the U.S. she contacted us to become part of the Art Models project. Her photos can be seen in the Pose Tool. It amazes us that artists and models around the world have heard about the Art Models mission (providing access to quality reference photos of the human figure) and want to take part. We were showing Jenni Art Models 2 and 4 and she held them up for a pose. You can find Jenni poses in the Pose Tool and the Session Downloads page.

Becca, Larger Than Life.

A quick snap-shot showing Becca standing next to her photo from a previous shoot. We're using a PlayStation 3 connected to a 60" high-def TV to view her photos at larger-than-life size. You could do the same with the photos on any of our Direct Downloads, Sessions, or Companion Disks. If you don't have a Playstation, you could connect a computer to a TV. Some DVD players will let you show photos from a disk. In a classroom or meeting, you could use a projector for an even larger view.

In preparing Art Models 2 to be reprinted (we sold out of the first print run), I was reminded of this photo by Dan. Sometimes the younger models get all the attention but Dan did a great job of capturing the expression of a wounded and dying combatant and we thought it deserved to be featured.

Videos

Why does it take us so long to post photos after a photo session? This video gives some idea. We do this for every one of the 24 photos in a pose.

We tried creating a few videos to demonstrate how to do various tasks at posespace.com. Should we post more? Let us know

Video: Download and View

Related FAQ This first video goes through the process of downloading a pose, extracting it to a folder, and viewing the pose in various ways. We hope this will give a good overall feel for the process. This was done on Windows XP using Internet Explorer. No special software is used, everything required is built-in to XP. This is video only (no audio) in Windows Media Player format, about 9 MB. Time: 2:50 .

New Model MikaM

A customer wrote to us about a woman he works with as an artist's model and requested that we hire her for the Art Models project. She happened to be traveling to the greater Boston, MA, USA area and was willing to work with us. Happily, she was just in time to help us with some poses we needed for Art Models 7.
We try to answer customer requests whenever we can so we were happy to do this shoot, and Mika turned out to be a great model! 2/3/2012

New Male Models

By popular request, we have two new male models. Mark is a professional body builder who, of course, has the 'heroic male' figure. Dave is an actor and brings intensity and emotion to his posing. We did motion studies with both of them as well as a few of our rotational figure studies. More of their work will be made available as we finish editing it, which will happen after we finish the next book, Art Models 7 Dynamic Figures for the Visual Arts. Many of their poses that do not contain full rotations are available for a reduced price. Hover over a pose thumbnail in the Pose Tool to see the price. 1/23/2012

Beginning Motion Studies

We are beginning to experiment with stop-motion photography. Our first set was shot with our standard studio equipment. We used fixed lights that required a high ISO setting (resulting in a grainy picture), a low Aperture setting (resulting in out of focus pictures when Ana moved toward or away from the camera), and a relatively slow shutter speed (resulting in blurring when the motion was too fast). Despite these problems, we thought some people might be interested in the results so they are available in the session downloads area. This first attempt contains about 200 photos of Ana going through several quick motions like jumping and falling.
After this session, we immediately bought a faster flash that significantly reduced all of the problems for our next session, with Lola. 11/28/2011

Every Model in One Place

We have added a page showing every model in the Art Models project. If you want a quick overview of all the different models who are available, the Model's page could be a good place to look. 11/17/2011

New Model AnaIv

Ana has a background in theater, gymnastics, and dance as well as other performance arts. She is helping us with poses based on dance, motion, and drama. Her first session featured mostly poses based on dance movements that could be held for a rotation. We also spent some time practicing photographing rapid motion such as leaping and spinning. Future sessions will include Ana in motion photograhed front, back, and side. This is in preparation for book 7, which is being discussed in the forum. See Ana on the Poses Page. 11/08/2011

New Sessions Available for Vaunt

Both halves of the Vaunt session are now available for download.

New Model Eva

At just 5 feet 1 inch tall (155cm) and 100lbs (45.36 kg), Eva is a very petite model but still has well-defined muscles. We mostly used side and spot light for her poses. Her ethnic background is strongly Italian.
It is common for women to wear heels and heels significantly change the posture and form of the body. Because of this, we frequently shoot several poses with the model wearing heels (it's not an attempt to make the model look sexy). The effect on Eva is particularly dramatic

More of Eva on the Poses Page. 9/28/2011

New Model Vaunt

Vaunt has a classic pin-up style figure with broad rib cage and hips and a narrow waist. She also has strong, classic, and beautiful facial features. We accentuated all of these with a strong side light. Vaunt worked collaboratively with us on the pose selection. Poses Page. 8/29/2011

New Model Sarahann

This has been a busy summer for new models. While we continue to look for local male models under the age of 35, the traveling models who come to our area continue to be the more typical young and beautiful women. SarahAnn is certainly no exception. She is a New York fashion model, with the dramatic look and posing of a fashion model. Many of Sarahann's poses were designed by her. Poses Page. 8/16/2011

New Model VNixie

Vnixie adds an interesting body type to our catalog, super thin but still having a very curvy figure (5'7", 100lbs, 32"C/23"/35") is really unusual. Even though people have been asking for more everyday activities, Vnixie's flexibility and expressiveness led us to poses that tended to the artsy and abstract. Poses Page. 7/21/2011

Artists

See some of the artwork people have created using our art models as a reference. This is an experimental feature that's still in testing and development. If you have any suggestions for it, please let us know. 7/5/2011

New Model Nedah

People have been asking for more variety in body types and ethnicity. Nedah adds a tall, thin, female African American to our catalog. Her poses are available now in the Poses Page. 6/15/2011

New Sets by Jenni/Misha

The duo poses by Jenni and Misha have actually been finished for some time, but we overlooked uploading them. Apologies for that! All their poses are now available in the Pose Tool page and as a session in the Session Downloads page.

New Sets by Ginger

We recently completed Ginger's entire first session and her poses are now available in the Pose Tool page and as sessions in the Session Downloads page.

New Sets by Jenni

People have been asking for more "natural" poses. We took the opportunity of having Jenni here to photograph a model doing fairly natural things. We started by bringing in a prop we've never used before, a bed, and asked her to do some things she might normally do in bed. She did different sleeping postures, moved on to taking her night clothes off, reading in bed, etcetera. We also put a few artsy poses in there (we just can't seem to help ourselves). Later in the set she moved on to some sports related activities; some pushing, pulling, moving poses and some more artistic poses. At the end, we finished with a completely free form Expressions Session, in which Jenni did a creative and fabulous job! You can see the poses as they are finished in the Poses page.

Corporations are artificial creatures of law. As such, they should enjoy only those powers—not constitutional rights, but legislatively-conferred powers—that are concomitant with their legitimate function, that being limited liability investment vehicles for business.
Corporations are not persons. Human beings are persons, and it is an affront to the inviolable dignity of our species that courts have created a legal fiction which forces people—human beings—to share fundamental natural rights with soulless creations of government. Worse still, while corporations and human beings share many of the same rights under the law, they clearly are not bound equally to the same codes of good conduct, decency, and morality, and they are not held equally accountable for their sins. - Justice Nelson, Montana Supreme Court
This site has nude Art Models for Fine Arts, Illustration, Crafts, Drawing, Painting, Sculpting  & for anyone with a serious  interest in the human figure. These large full-color photos of model poses were photographed specifically for artists. Our goal is to contribute to the execution of art of the human figure. To that end, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality figurative art nudes of a variety of female and male models for artists in any media.
